This was another screen-printed poster design for Austin's own, Bob Schneider.
The inspiration is pretty straightforward: the classic science fiction movie but Fourth of July themed. For this idea (and for many others), sometimes you have to cobble together various resources to get where you need to go. In this case, I ended up using Google Maps to get the image of downtown Austin, TX, Google SketchUp to incorporate the cars and match the perspective, and Poser for the main figure. I made the typography in a separate SketchUp file. The image on the right is fairly close to the final, screen-printed composition.
Because screen-printing necessitates a reduced color range, I wanted to recolor the image for digital viewing. Below is the final version of the poster.
Did I mention that I'm lactose intolerant? This is truly a nightmare for me.
